After a front driver side collision and repair, Service Air Bag message came on. Dealer wants to charge over $600 to fix; states it's a passenger seat sensor failure. This is not necessary for deployment of passenger air bag, right? Could this be result of collision? I am calling collision repair shop. Not sure if I should fix it. Advice?

The usual, bad pressure sensor mat on passenger seat. The recall on this issue reads that Cadillac will fix this even though my VIN is outside of the recall population. Turns out they were joking. According to its 10V-644 Defect Report, GM reported that some vehicles outside the recall population have "...significantly lower incident rates and will be provided a special coverage." This special coverage includes a free repair should the same issue occur to non-recalled 2005-2007 Cadillac CTS vehicles up to 10 years or 120,000 miles.
The passenger airbag ON/OFF light at the bottom of the rearview mirror stays on OFF. The dashboard Driver Information System puts up a "Service Air Bag" message every time the car is started. I have had the vehicle in to the dealership, and they have quoted me a repair price of $533. I have not had the problem repaired yet.
needs passengers presence module replaced. PPS code B1063.
I have not had it fixed. material and labor total over $500 to replace.
I called the dealer about it . They want 98.00 just to check it out. Then if they find a problem with some parts they will let me know & order parts & go from there. Of coarse it will cost extra. I asked if it was something I could fix my self & he immediately said it was a factory part & I wouldn't be able to order that my self or fix it. It hD to be brought to the dealer to be fixed!
Service air bag message on,the problem started after someone exited the passenger seat and has been on ever since
Service Airbag light came on this morning. Have an appointment with a dealer to have it looked at tomorrow.
Wondering how many 2008 CTS Cadillac's have the same issue. I see there was a recall for the 2005-2007 model years to fix the same issue??

Air bag light on. Cadillac said it needed a seat belt sensor. Cost us 650.00 for repair. They said it wasn't a recall. So we're they lying?
