What is your question?
My speedometer and odometer have stopped working. All other gauges on the dashboard work fine. What might the problem be? A broken cable? Thanks.

First there's only 6 different Sentra models. I'm guessing with this one. Most likely you have a check engine light on also. Probably a P0500 code stored in PCM. The consensus is a bad speedometer head. Vehicle Application: 1995 Nissan Sentra 1.6L, Vin A 1997 Nissan Sentra GXE 1.6L Customer Concern: Trouble code P0500. The cruise control is inoperative but the speedometer works. Tests/Procedures: 1. Check the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal that the speedometer head sends to the Engine Control Module (ECM). It should have a 0-5v square wave on the Purple/Red wire. If it has no signal and the signal wire is not open or shorted, then the speedometer head is bad. Potential Causes: Speedometer Head Wiring Tech Tips: The VSS signal is input to the speedometer head. The speedometer head then sends a signal to the ECM, so if the speedometer is working, the VSS would be OK. Diagnostic Codes: P0500
What a great answer, backyard tech.
