What is your question?
2002 Pontiac sunfire, 2.2L The car is in great condition, in the process of doing a little work to it. I am in the process of doing a little engine repair as per the codes I got when I gave it a test. I want to be sure that I am on the right track, and Im just curious if anyone can offer assistance. First I was getting a misfire code, so this weekend I am changing the spark plug and then checking the cables a distributor. Second was an RPM code, which said it was reving high. And I can notice this when I drive it. As it revs high before I get any real power. This is the main issue. And my suggested fix was the idle air control valve, and then fuel filter. It appears to be getting fuel, so I dont believe its a pump issue. 3rd was an issue with a temperature circuit, likely a relay. But would that affect anything major? And the last code was for the 02 sensor, which I replaced already. If there is anything that I should do extra on top of what I am doing, can someone advise any other courses of action other than what I am already doing. Thank

Hello, Thanks for all the information, it is very useful. I do need the actual trouble codes that are stored or pending to understand what is happening. Do you have those handy? I'm also glad you are testing things instead of replacing things. That is going to save you a boatload of cash in the long run. For the sluggishness until high RPM, how does the engine feel compared to the speed of the vehicle. Does the engine feel and sound strong, but acceleration is slow? The idle air control valve gets blamed a lot, and for good reason. Check inside the throttle body, and see if the port for the idle air control valve is clogged, or the throttle body is dirty. Post your reply here, and I'll help you out.
