Slight whirring sound at idle continues at lower speeds..can't hear after that.

Hello, only a good physical inspection can verify and pin point the source of noise. It is possible you could be hearing a cooling fan running, or an engine accessory drive component like a pulley or alternator or power steering pump making noise.
