My reverse lights on my 1999 GMC Denali stay on while driving. How do you fix the problem, I know you can be pulled over by the police for this. So please help me if you can

If it is a manual transmission there is a switch on the gear box that may have failed (pink and a light green wire going to it), if auto trans the reverse light switch is part of the transmission range switch. The pink and light green wire should have no continuity in any position except when in reverse if the switch is good.
