Battery died and when charged and reinstalled, radio would not work. How do we get the reset code without having to take out the radio?

I most cases the ant-theft code is on the back of the radio, I now of no other way to get the code than removing the radio.
At purchase you should have been given a card with the audio system's reset number and serial number on it. If you don't have that card anymore, the manual says to call the dealer and they'll give the number to you. In the meantime, if it's an EX, try entering 15233 when you see COdE in the raio's display.
That makes no sense, if the radio was stolen then the thief would have the code. Making a theft code useless.
You may have to go through the dealer, or maybe a local car audio installer could help you out
