we can clear it but as soon as you shut it off its back when you start it. Something about the not recognizing the VIN#

Hello, If the battery was connected incorrectly, the the positive side was grounded to the chassis, or the battery was jump started backwards, it is most likely that the engine control module (ECM). Even if these events did not occur, any arching while connecting the battery can cause serious damage to electrical systems. That code is exactly what it sounds like, and it means the ECU will need to be reprogrammed or replaced.
