A damaged cable could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring, increasing the risk of a fire.
The engine block immersion heater may be located too close to hot engine components, risking shorting, melting and damage to the heater cable. Dealers will inspect the block heater's location and its cable, and will replace components as needed free of charge to resolve the concern. Note that if parts are not available at the time of initial inspection, the block heater cable will be disabled from use until new parts are available.

If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 20S08.
