Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 ford transit vehicles, equipped with a trailer tow module. water can enter the tow modules and corrode the wiring causing issues such as rapidly flashing turn signals, loss of instrument panel display, an electrical short and possibly the deployment of seatbelt pretensioner.

Water may enter the trailer tow module of equipped vehicles and cause corrosion to its wiring. This can result in a electrical short that causes the turn signals to flash rapidly, the instrument panel display to fail, and possibly the deployment of the seat belt pretensioner. This all increases risk of a crash.

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in May, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 17S34-S1.
