A damaged cable could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring, increasing the risk of a fire.
The engine block heater cable on equipped vehicles may short circuit due to damage caused to the splice connector of the cable during a previously performed recall procedure. Dealers will disable the engine block heater from being used until replacement cables become available. When cables are available, owners will be notified and the cables will be replaced free of charge to resolve the concern.
Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Ford recall number is 19S11.
