The automatic transmission may downshift into first gear while driving, unexpectedly, regardless of vehicle speed. Dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module free of charge to resolve the concern.

What Should You Do?

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in March, 2019. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. Summary
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2013 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission may unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.
Consequence
Unexpectedly downshifting into first gear may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
