Engine Block Heater Shorts Causing Fire Hazard

Recall Details

For vehicles equipped with an optional engine block heater, the wiring connector for the heater may become contaminated with water and other contaminants. This can lead to the overheating and melting of wiring and a fire hazard. Dealers will inspect and seal the block heater cable or replace it as needed free of charge to resolve the concern.

Our Quick Take

The optional engine block heater may allow water and other contaminants to get inside the wiring connector for the unit, causing corrosion and damage. This can lead to overheated or melted wiring, and the risk of fire.
