My ford escort's rear wiper has started to randomly turn on even when it is set to off. I am not able to shut it off at all. I have no clue what is wrong. What do I need to do to fix this problem as it is really annoying to drive with it going back and forth constantly?

There are are 2 common causes for this. Firstly, a broken rear wiper switch that is shorted, either intermittently or constantly. The second is a defective PARK mechanism in the wiper motor it self which won't let the wiper motor ever come to a rest or PARK. There are some special electrical contacts in the wiper motor that let the wiper arm finish its travel after you turn off the switch.
