Noticed when rear wheels go over a bump there is a rattling sound. Had the car up on a lift but tires were touching and hit the area with my fist and there was a rattle...metal hiting metal. Springs are firm not broken. What is this?

A rattling sound can be made by several things, and not only from the suspension system i.e. exhaust system, drive line etc. Best to have someone test drive this car and reproduce the rattle, while some one sticks their head out of either of the rear windows to locate the area of the sounds. I would recommend a good suspension tech, as they are more experienced with suspension related or suspected rattles or noises.
