Rear main seal leaking, small oil leaks

The rear main oil seal of the engine is located at the rear of the engine and if leaking the oil would be seen dripping from the joint where the engine and transmission mate together. The oil leak you describe sounds like a leak from the timing cover area (front of the engine). Remember oil leaks down hill. Look to see if the valve cover is leaking or is the leak indeed coming from inside the timing cover. If the timing belt becomes contaminated with oil it may cause premature failure.
