Transmission replacement

NOT ALWAYS, EACH SHOP IS DIFFERENT. THE VOLVO'S TAKE SPECIAL TOOLS FOR HOLDING AND REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION CORRECTLY. ALSO THE ONLY DECENT TRANSMISSION IS HAVE SEEN TO REPLACE WITH IS FROM THE DEALER. $$$ ALSO WILL NEED DOWNLOADED SOFTWARE. DEALER RECOMMENDS OTHER ITEMS TO BE REPLACED IN CONJUCTION WITH TRANSMISSION. SOMETIMES TRANSMISSION COOLER/RADIATOR LEAKS.

I'd suggest to take your car to a Volvo specialty shop - who has VIDA or DICE diagnostic system or to a dealership. The transmission has to be programmed, the fluid counter has to be reset and a drive cycle has to be performed after transmission replacement. Without downloading the driver software the car won't move, even with the new transmission. Often other modules has to be updated also among the TCM, depends on the software versions. I'd suggest to get the replacement transmission from Volvo, it comes with a new torque converter also. We had very bad experiences with any other source. The cooler lines and transmission cooler (part of the radiator) has to be flushed out perfectly or replaced. It's important to use the approved ATF, otherwise there will be problems and loss of warranty. BTW.: what's wrong with the transmission? Could you share it with us? Zee
