Loud clicking coming from the front of the car.

No oil light. The ticking or clacking sound maintains even when I put the gearbox in neutral while coasting. I thought it might be a CV joint but it doesn't change when I steer. Prop shaft?

It may be the prop shaft universal joint, if the noise is coming from that area. Noise complaints can be difficult to diagnose when you have the car in your shop, figuring out here is nearly impossible. It's best to have an experienced Volvo tech drive this, they may hear the noise and know the cause immediately, because they should have heard and fixed this issue before. Good luck.
