What is your question?
radio was cutting in and out, now does not turn on and play - at all. What does a 'ring break' entail as a diagnostic procedure to figure out what the problem is? Where are the various modules located and must they be removed to complete finding and fixing the problem?
What makes this problem better or worse?
problem appeared & worsened over about a week or 10 days.
How long has your 2008 Volvo XC70 had this problem?
about 2 weeks

Some cars have a fiber optic ring that connects different components of the entertainment system. This is the main radio or head unit, the amp, cd changer, phone system and a few other systems that your car may or may not have. If there is a break in the ring then the system would shut down so they need to find where that break is. If you need to find a shop for this then use this link to find a good one near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
