What is your question?
I have a Volvo XC60 2012 T6. 110k miles. Upon start up and city driving, the car is quiet with no front-end noises even while turning. After the car has been under load for a few miles, especially after a highway trip, the following happens: Upon taking off from stop, the area near the front wheels pop/click quite noticeably. After a long highway trip, the pinging is multiplied and worse. Driving at speeds above 30mph produces a bit of cyclical whirring but no shaking and feint vibration. If I turn I also hear a few pinging sounds. After my 100 mile trip yesterday it sounded like a dozen little pops/pings every time i started forward. Slowing down does not produce a noise. I've heard of Volvo axle ping, but I imagine this would be present all the time. Could something be coming loose when it heats up? If the car is parked for some time the noise is gone until i drive some distance again. Any advice appreciated.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Only noticeable after driving 4-5 miles
How long has your 2012 Volvo XC60 had this problem?
Since owning (1 month)

Hello, I'm sorry to say, but noises really need to be inspected hands / ears on. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops Check that link for some shops near you for your Volvo. Based on your concern, sure - you could have axle concerns. The cyclical whirring could be an engine cooling fan operating? So much guessing; have a local tech near you hear the noise and give advice -- they can and will usually do this for no charge! Diagnostic testing will cost more but I would check the car sooner than later because circumstances can change causing further deterioration of components.
