What is your question?
Key gets stuck in position "I" and will not come out, I've heard there is a cable from the shifter to the ignition that might need replacement? It is definitely not the button sticking.
How long has your 2001 Volvo V70 had this problem?
For about a year or so

Hello, That could be the case, and the cable, gear selector, and ignition switch portions of the shift-interlock system should be inspected to identify the point of failure. This portion of the assembly is just to prevent the key from coming out when the vehicle is not in park. If the system uses a solenoid and switch instead of a cable, you will have to diagnose the circuit.
