What's this awful noise?! 07 S80 Volvo

That's the front of the engine where there are a lot of spinning parts like the alternator, power steering pump, water pump etc. Diagnosing noises from this area is challenging as there are so many possible sources of the noise. Best to have someone remove the drive belt and see if the noise goes away, that help to differentiate between belt-driven parts and engine-driven parts. Good luck
