My transmission went out yesterday, how much will a replacement cost? Is a repair available? Anything I should be aware of when I have a transmission replaced?

Good questions. The new unit is probably around $2500 - $300, and about 9 hours to replace. You'll want to have the rear main seal replaced, the transmission cooler flushed and the software in the transmission control module updated to the latest version. There's a good chance when they take it out they will find other things that need attention as well, like motor mounts, oil leaks worn suspension parts, and now is the best time to do it because the labor should be discounted due to the overlapping time while replacing the transmission.
