engine dies when braking

Hello, it's very hard to say exactly why this happens without analysis of what is happening to the various components while the concern occurs. You can guess, but it's not productive to do so. A diagnostic tool will monitor the parameters of the engine performance and you'll possibly be able to see what component is showing out of range data when the problem occurs.
