What is your question?
I have over 100,000 miles on my car and it is running great. I am wondering how important it is to get the timing belt replaced. The Volvo dealer in our area is not very good and I worry that they might make things worse.

If you have the 2.3 5 cyl. turbo it is very important and should have been changed at 70,000. You have an interference type engine and serious engine damage could occur if the timing belt brakes. And since the water pump is driven by the timing belt you might consider changing it also as the timing belt will be off anyways and since you have 100,000 on it.
I believe this year had a split where some of the engines had a 70K and others have a 105K belt replacement interval. A good Volvo shop can look at the engine # and determine which belt it has, and they can also tell by what kind of tensioner it has. If it has a mechanical tensioner it's a 105,000 mile belt, a hydraulic tensioner is on the 70,000 mile belt. No matter which you have, replace the tensioner at the same time and the water pump if it has any signs of leakage.
