My ignition doesn't lock and release my key.

does the shifter knob button look to be in good shape. these things have issues where if the button sticks in after shifting to park and it will not allow you to get your keys back.

There must be something wrong with your steering column. Try exerting pressure against the ignition mechanism and persist until it unlocks.
