my car just clicks when i try and start it

This sounds like the problem I was having with my 2006 v70. Everything would turn on but it would not crank. I also had the battery replaced. Just made kind of a whining noise and clicking. This was very sporadic and went on for about two years before I was able to get it to a mechanic when I was having this problem. Turns out it was the starter going bad. I had to replace it for about $390.00. I hope this helps.
