Just bought a used volvo engine light came on.auto parts place said my car need updates provided by dealer at no cost. Is this true?

There may be some updates available, you would need to have the vehicle checked for the latest updates from Volvo. This can be done at a Volvo dealer or an independent shop with the proper equipment. I always suggest having the vehicle checked for these updates, especially if the vehicle is new to you. As far as cost, they are not free unless it is under warranty or part of a recall.
