I have a 2008 volvo c70 which I recently purchased. About a month into owning it the power steering failed. The steering still worked but it was difficult to turn the wheel. No whining came from the power steering pump. I quickly checked the fluid and found it was black with particles in it. So I flushed that out, checked that all the fuses were working for the power steering system, and ordered a new power steering pump. During the 10 days it took for the pump to arrive I continued to drive the car. About 5 days into that the power steering returned during right turns and then a day later I had full power steering back. So I assumed that there was a blockage that clogged the pipe somewhere. I took off the low-pressure time and ran the car to try and do a more thorough flush of the power steering system. There was good return pressure and the fluid started coming out the correct color so I resealed the system but still don’t have power steering back. The milage is 165,000 but the engin

Hello, to me, it doesn't sound like a restriction. The electo-hydraulic power steering system of your Volvo will vary steering assist based on multiple factors. If this electronically controlled system is malfunctioning, it can cause a loss of assist. Diagnostic testing of this system is needed - I appreciate you've attacked the mechanical portions, but the electronic portions also need attention.
