passenger side strut mount seems to be worn out

What is your question?

there is a slight knocking noise sometimes(going over bumps,hard turns), almost more of a rattling--if it is the strut mount(s), how long can i let it go without fixing it?will damage be done to other parts of the car if i just live with it for awhile?if it doesn't bother me,can i just leave it alone until it is really annoying, without incurring even more repairs later?
