Brand new. They are relatively cheap these days. Made in china and such. Plus you don't know what you're getting from the junkyard and I doubt you want to do the same job twice.
You buy a new one. They only last 10 years anyway. Why would you buy a POS only to have it fail right after you install it?
I would say getting one from a junk yard is your best bet. For best results, make sure the unit has no visible signs of damage that would prevent it from functioning properly, a leak test right after getting home should fix that. The salvage yard you go to should insure its parts, and ensure that the unit you are getting is OEM (that is, it should physically match and have markings on it that show that it is an original part certified by Volvo). Someone said something about how cheap they are to buy new since they are made in china and such,.. the cheap ones will not perform or last as long as the original, in many cases, they can even cause damage to your vehicle. These are known as aftermarket, steer clear of these. Eric | http://www.buffaloautowreckers.com.au
Junk yards r ok ,a lot of them give warranty,I would take that type and have it rodded and cored.Don't buy a new one, they r more money, get one that has been rebuilt, they have warranty and just as good as new.
