Hello, That tells me your clutch is worn out. Normally the clutch will slip for a while before completely failing, but no two failures are alike. The other though I have is that the shift linkage may be broken, so the transmission is never going into gear, and the other thing I wonder is if the throwout bearing is seized in the disengaged position. Most likely, you just need to replace the clutch, but listen to hear if the transmission is responding when you select a gear. Another thing you can do is raise the drive wheels, and see if they spin when you put it into gear. If they do, your clutch is worn out.
