My car will not sometimes start but if it sits for a while it will start again

Hello, are you saying it will not start, as in - the engine cranks and cranks without starting? Or, do you mean the key is turned and nothing happens - no engine cranking occurs? If this is the case, do you have any lights on your dash or inside your whole that function prior to turning the key from the "on" to the "start" position?
