What is your question?
I let my car sit for 3 or 4 days and the battery went dead. I charged it, started it and gauge shows it is at 14 volts. Next day dead. In the course of looking for an obvious drain I noticed that the radio remained on with the key removed. I turned the radio off and it has started the last 5 or 6 times I tried even sitting over night. I am still nervous about this. I have a new Battery so I do not suspect the Battery.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It has only happened when the car sits overnight
How long has your 2005 Volkswagen Touareg had this problem?

Hello, It is best to not run the radio or any accessories with the engine off. It becomes a terrible strain on the battery when you do this. Sometimes it is necessary, but avoid it when possible. The battery should indeed be checked, though, to ensure it has enough capacity to power the vehicle accessories and start the engine. Also, the radio should not have power when the key is off and the door is opened. If it still does, you may need to troubleshoot this system.
Thank You, I love my Toureg but The Operator's Manual and Electric System is a nightmare when things go astray. Earlier I had a Thermostat fail and I'm sure you are aware of the ramifications of that failure. It's on the inside of the engine. I will avoid the Dealership at all costs. I live in Alaska and the cold climate seems to effect many of the systems on this Vehicle. VW never again.
