What is your question?
Manual transmission, can be jump-started with key on. No sound when turning key to start position. Battery and starter have been replaced.
How long has your 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit had this problem?
A few weeks

Hello, it's hard to understand; you are saying the jump start will start the vehicle if the key is already in the on position? So I'm not sure what that means about the no start situation; it still sounds like a concern with enough power getting to the starter motor, if in fact the starter will not crank the engine unless jump started. It sounds like a shop near you should be enlisted to check your car out. There is no further advice to give without hands on professional assessment. Thx for reply DaveJM. I misspoke and should have used the term 'pop the clutch', not jump-start, when describing ability to start car. It simply will nor crank, although there definitely is both 12V and ground at the starter housing. The 'wire' that must trigger the starter to carry the electricity is inserted but has no juice flowing when key is in START position --- is there a relay involved, or does the ignition switch have to pass a signal into/thru a control module to activate the starter? (In trying to decipher components involved, I can't find a decent wiring diagram online that depicts the ignition-to-starter system flow.)
