What is your question?
I was driving my car and it jerked a couple times then the engine cut off. The engine will crank but it will start for like half a second then die immediately. I thought it was the battery. I took it out and got a new one and installed. The car started and I was able to drive for about 10 seconds then it died again. Same issue.
How long has your 2017 Volkswagen Passat had this problem?
A few days

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like your Passat might be dealing with an issue related to fuel delivery, the ignition system, or possibly a sensor malfunction. The fact that the car starts briefly and then dies suggests that the engine may be getting fuel initially and then losing it or that a critical sensor (like the crankshaft position sensor) might be failing and cutting off the engine. Inspecting the fuel pump and ensuring there are no restrictions in the fuel system could be a good place to start. Another possibility is a faulty ignition coil or spark plugs, which might be causing misfires and leading to the engine shutting down. It's also worth checking for any trouble codes using an OBD-II scanner, which can provide more specific clues. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
