My EPC light is on and the car loses power and runs rough. 2014 VW Passat

When the car warms up the EPC light comes on and I lose power when trying to accelerate. The car has also been running rough and has been burning oil. The light only seems to come on if I’m at low rpm but not if I’m on the highway. It goes off if I shut the car off. I have heard horror stories of trying to find the culprit and spending thousands only to find a 50 cent hose was to blame. Please help!
