What is your question?
I think maybe there is an oil leak somewhere because every time the low oil pressure warning comes on I check the oil level with the oil dipstick and it appears not to be filled to the max. So I throw a quart of fully synthetic 5 w 30 oil in and then I'm able to drive the car for a day or so without the warning light coming on again.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Throwing a quart of oil in makes the warning light turn off
How long has your 2010 Volkswagen Passat had this problem?
for just a few days

Hello, Which engine do you have in your Passat? Deisel or gas, and turbocharged or not?
Turbocharged 2.0t
There is a good chance you are sucking oil through the turbocharger. Don't just add a quart when it says it's low. Add some, check the level, add more until it's at max. I recommend mobile one synthetic European car formula for your engine, but there are a lot of people that swear by strange combinations. Have the oil consumption diagnosed, the main culprit is that turbocharger, second is PCV issues, and third is piston rings. If you have a leak you can't detect, that would be a relief.
