You need to check the oil pressure with a direct reading oil pressure gauge.

These engines give problems if the correct oil and filter were not used and oil was changed frequently! By the time an "oil light" comes on in most cases the oil pressure is so low damage is about to occur. Verify oil pressure with a "known good" mechanical oil pressure gauge.
