car shut off while drive !!!

i just recently had this problem with my beetle. my car would start up fine and maybe 20-30 mins later while i was driving it would shut off. the crankshaft position sensor needs changed. for my beetle it was 90 dollars. i changed the part myself it wasnt that hard.

i had a similar problem with my 1.8T GLS A/T. while driving to work one morning, i was stopped at a light. when i stepped on the gas, the car stalled/hesitated with no power for a few seconds before surging forward. the stop/go lasted a few seconds before it lost complete power and the engine turned off. i pulled over and tried to crank the engine to no avail. battery/alternator were all working fine. i towed it to the closest dealer who diagnosed the problem as a faulty fuel pump. the replacement part was ~$250 alone and the total bill (also replaced filter) was ~$500.
