Is the position of the gear shifter illuminated (lit up)? I know that the Economy/Sport switch is illuminated, however, can't find any information about illumination of the position of the automatic transmission gear shifter.

Hello, honestly, I would suspect that the shift lever selector should be illuminated, but I have no data saying so. It would be expected that you should be able to see it at all times, though. I would suspect a bulb burned out - it would be worth some inspection and partial disassembly by a trained technician.
