What is your question?
Hello. I recently added more oil to my car and after a couple days my oil light would come on make a noise and then blink for a couple seconds then turn off this would repeat at random times when driving. I thought maybe I overfilled my oil but I went to jiffy lube and they checked and said the oil leval was fine and that it was my pressure sensor. I tried looking this up and there also is a pressure sensor switch and I wasn’t sure how you are able to tell the difference on what needs to be replaced. I go to college out of state and need to drive home 6 hours in 3 weeks. Is this something i need to get taken care of immediately? I’ve been driving around with the oil light blinking on and off for about 2 weeks now and nothing seems to be wrong. Or will it be okay to drive home as long as I know I have oil in my car? Thank you so much.

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. An oil light blinking or lighting up is evidence of oil pressure concerns with the engine. Either the sending unit or electrical circuit to the sending unit is in question, or the oil pressure of the engine is legitimately a concern. First, testing should be performed to check the base engine oil pressure as well as oil pressure with the engine at 2,000 RPM. If this checks in specification -- that's great. Time to check the sending unit and wiring. The sending unit and / or wiring may need to be replaced for repaired. This would resolve the warning light if the base engine oil pressure is OK. Seek guidance at a local shop near you to do the testing. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
