What kind of transmission fluid it takes and how many quarts to put in

Assuming automatic - let me know if it's manual. The automatic transmission of a 2.5L Jetta holds approximately 7.6 quarts of total fluid. However, that's if you're changing it all. Most of the time you can't get it all due to the torque converter and other passages. In that case, it will take 5 1/2 quarts during a normal fluid change. Always monitor dipstick level with the engine at operating temperature to ensure it has the proper fluid level when filling. The fluid type is: ATF G 055 025. I would just go to the dealer and purchase the fluid for your vehicle, or go to a parts store and ensure you look it up on their catalog.
