Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Jetta. When the check engine and EPC (Electronic Power Control) lights come on together, it usually signals an issue with the engine management system or throttle body. The EPC light often indicates a problem with components like the throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor, or even wiring issues that affect the fuel system or engine timing. The fact that your engine sputtered might suggest a temporary problem with fuel delivery or airflow. Since the issue occurred twice and hasn't returned, it could be an intermittent sensor or electrical glitch, but it's essential to get it checked out before it worsens.
