White smoke from exhaust

I took my car in for the ignition coil recall on 2/27/10. A week later there was smoke coming from the car. I went back to the dealership, and the service tech advised that they had left a hose loose and all was fine. A few days later the white smoke was back. I returned to the dealership, and they informed me that the person who did my most recent oil change (1/9/10) put too much oil, and the smoke came from that; recommended a new oil change and the smoke should dissipate in a few days as it was related to the excess oil burning off the engine. That was 3/13/10. On 3/17/10, the smoke was worse. The engine is rattling when I accelerate. I went back to the dealership, and they completed a compression test, cat. converter test and found everything to be normal. The diagnosis is there are signs that non synthetic oil was used creating a crystilization, build up in the hoses. I was told to drive the car 500-1000 miles then bring it back. Is this normal? I am hardly driving the car now because of the smoke (and this has caused me tons of stress!). Can somebody help me with this??
