1. Start the vehicle, turn the steering wheel one turn to the right and then one turn to the left, re-center the steering wheel. 2. Drive the vehicle a short distance in a straight line at a maximum of 20 KPH to allow the steering and suspension to settle. Make sure the steering wheel is straight and the front wheels are straight. DO NOT shut off the vehicle. The vehicle must be running while performing the reset procedure. 3. Using a full function Volkswagen Compatible Scan Tool, enter address word 03 Brake Electronics. 4. Enter Function 08 Read Data Measuring Blocks and enter Display group 004 (in some cases 005) and verify the steering angle value shows zero degrees. 5. Next enter Function 11 Login ECU (in some cases Function 11 will not be available in that case enter Function 16 Security Access) 6. Enter Login code 40168, this enables the reset procedure. 7. Enter Function 04 Basic Settings and enter Display Group Number 001. This begins the reset procedure for the Steering Angle Sensor. Observe the display in field 2 if the Steering Angle Sensor is successfully reset field 2 will display OK. 8. If the vehicle is equipped with Electromechanical steering, perform the steering angle limit reset by turning the steering wheel to the right stop hold for 1 second, turn to the left stop and hold for one second then turn to center and hold for 5 seconds. Turn Ignition off and then restart the vehicle. A short test drive will complete the reset and turn the warning lights off.
