I have a 2.0, wonder if it's the same layout as the 1.8's, but my 2ndary air pump is right on the front of the engine when popping the hood. You can already see half of it with the engine cover on, once you take the engine cover off, you see it completely it's the foremost part right between the radiator and the engine itself. It's sort of circular, and had 1 electric plug and two breather hoses one going to the air box, the other going to the combi valve behind the engine.
