What is your question?
This description fits our VW Eurovan 1999. Did this person ever get their's repaired? Visitor in El Granada, CA on April 14, 2011 Problem originally just happened when we drove up the hill we live on with a full car. A knocking noise would occur and then stop when you let up on the gas. Problem then started to happen at different times in different driving conditions. Most recently the noise would happen when I am on the freeway at speed and the knock would start slowly and then build up to almost constantly. I just had the water pump changed, thought it was that, but problem continues with new water pump.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Worst on hills, stops when foot is off accelerator
How long has your 1999 Volkswagen EuroVan had this problem?
at least six months

Hello, This sounds like an oil starvation issue. If the knock occurs under hard load (uphill with a full car), it is nearly certainly oil starvation due to low oil pressure or clogged oil passageways. The first thing I would do is run a powerful engine detergent through the engine as recommended by the manufacturer of the detergent, then change the oil. Checking for engine sludge can be as easy as removing the oil fill cap and looking inside with a flashlight, but this may not tell the whole story.
