What is your question?
We have been having some issues with the transmission not going into gear so when the engine light came on, I took it to a VW dealer who said that since they could not make it duplicate the problem they could not agree to service it, but they would reset the sensor because they felt that, that was the problem. So when it happened again I took it to Auto Zone who checked it and it said, "Unexpected Mechanical Gear Disengagement". Is there an open recall on these transmission issues, and will the extended warranty, they so eagerly wanted us to purchase, cover it? We've also had problems with it bucking forward or jolting forward when you step on the gas.

YES! there is a recall and if you are under 90k miles on the car then they should replace it for you. I literally just had this happen to me about 3 months ago. It is your Mechtronics unit. The unit is destined to fail, and needs to be replaced with the newest version or it will continue to happen. I urge you to find out if your part of the recall, which will be hard. Sorry, pasting the rest for you. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 09V333000 Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
