And dammit I can't find a auto parts dealer who has a 2003 in the system. Even online and even on this site there is no listing for 2003. So my question is What brakes do I buy? Does the 2003 use the 2002 brake pads? This is a pain and these brake need a change bad.

The may sound dumb, but are you sure your Cabrio is a 2003? Check the under hood emission label to see what model year is indicated on the label. You can also check with you local Volkswagen dealer to confirm the model year and to confirm if the pads from a 2002 will fit on your 2003.
