Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like the trunk sensor on your Volkswagen Beetle might be malfunctioning. Cold weather can sometimes cause components like the latch or sensor to act up, especially if there's moisture or debris. Try cleaning the latch area to ensure it's closing fully. If that doesn't work, the trunk sensor may be faulty or misaligned, causing the light to stay on even when the trunk is closed properly. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
